08Ch18N10T (08Х18Н10Т) is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel according to GOST standards. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, outstanding weldability and high resistance to intergranular corrosion, making it suitable for chemical processing, petrochemical and nuclear applications.
Yes. 08Ch18N10T is widely used for WWER (VVER) nuclear reactor systems, pressure equipment, piping and other components requiring excellent corrosion resistance, weldability and long-term reliability. For selected nuclear applications, the material is available with controlled low cobalt content to reduce activation during reactor operation.
The closest international equivalents include 1.4541 (X6CrNiTi18-10), AISI 321 and UNS S32100. Although these materials have similar chemical composition and applications, material selection should always be verified according to the applicable standard and project specification.
Both 08Ch18N10T and 1.4541 (X6CrNiTi18-10 / AISI 321) are titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steels with very similar corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, 08Ch18N10T for nuclear applications is often supplied with controlled low cobalt content, helping to minimize the formation of radioactive cobalt isotopes during reactor operation. This makes it a preferred choice for nuclear power plants and safety-critical components where low activation materials are required.
